Position Overview
The Network Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining network plans taking into consideration the customers’ demands, system capacity and constraint, resources availability, and any other elements that have input to the planning process. The role is responsible for delivering a robust network plan that accommodates the requirements safely and efficiently. The role will be coordinating closely with planners who will be requesting access to the infrastructure for operation, maintenance, or any other purposes. The role will be working closely with the resource planner for the effective deployment of manpower resources and also with the control team to ensure effective communication is in place.
Roles and Responsibility
Create the network annual plan that in line with customers’ requirements, system capacity, and in coordination with the different stakeholders
Implement the network plan quarterly updates in line with the requirements and constraints
Input the network plan into the Train Management System (TMS)
Manage the TMS Planner Platform and ensure continuing update is in place
Maintain the network plan as required to meet any change in the plan
Work closely with the planning manager on items related to commercial
Work closely with the commercial freight planners to plan paths effectively
Work closely with the control function in order to ensure effective delivery of the plans
Work closely with the infrastructure maintenance planners on access requirements
Act as the key holder for the infrastructure and ensure compliance to access requirements
Produce reports as required by the planning manager
Contribute to the delay attribution process as required
Academic Qualifications
University certificate or equivalent+
Experience
5 years of planning experience
3 years of network planning experience
2 years of railway experience
Experience in any Timetable system i.e Railsys
Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced deadline and deliverable-oriented setting
Experience in Train Timetabling
Knowledge of capacity assessment & access strategies of rail network
Other Skills
English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skills
Ability to work in multicultural teams
Excellent communication skills
Analytical skills for problem-solving
Microsoft Office knowledge
Enjoys working as part of, and actively contributing to a positive, friendly, multi-cultural and supportive team
Ability for Self-motivation.
