Job Description
The Prosthetic, Hair and Makeup Artist is responsible for the design, upkeep, inventory and quality control of the wigs, makeup and prosthetics for character and show performers. This position works closely with the Seamstresses, Costume Technicians and Costume Attendants to ensure show quality in relations to the overall look of the performers on a daily basis. Responsible for all wig washing and restyling, as well as creating prosthetics for performers. Will work with Operation Support Manager-Costuming and Head of Creative Costuming for both daily operations of the costume division and special projects.
Job Scope:
Being responsible for documentation of hair, prosthetic and makeup looks for each of the characters appearing in park or representing the park for public relations and at special events
Teaching performers how to apply their makeup and prosthetics properly and efficiently and making daily checks to confirm performers are applying makeup to company standards
Helping Costuming Assistant Manager in maintaining accurate and up to date wig, makeup and supplies inventory and keeping supplies stocked and request orders in a timely manner
Participating in off-site or on-site public relations events involving costumes and performers
When needed, helps crew with daily laundry, including washing, hanging, ironing and steaming costume pieces
When needed, help with fabricating and repairing costumes and craft pieces, as well as altering existing costumes with high attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship to ensure show quality
Organizing weekly dry cleaning pick up and drop off and records items that have been taken and returned by the dry cleaner as needed
Managing daily operations of costuming, including, but not limited to: checking in staff, handing out daily assignments, answer radio calls from green rooms, etc.
Performing administrative and other tasks as reasonably requested by senior management
As an ideal candidate, you will need to have:
Minimum of 2 years of makeup application, wig styling and prosthetics work
Knowledge of prosthetics application, development and makeup design
Wig design, restyling, making/repairing
Special FX makeup, body painting, sculpting and mold making, painting and airbrush experience
Hand sewing
Costume Technology experience
Advanced level computer proficiency
Attention to detail and highly organized
Past experience working with performers and managing people
Computer skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
