Job Summary/Scope:

He/She is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail convenience and online store, including product availability, display, health and safety and pricing. Other duties entail managing the staff and customer services and controlling cost. They are also required to train new employees and schedule shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing salespeople, cashiers, shelf stockers, and other employees.
  • Evaluating the supply and availability of stocks
  • Implementing measures to avoid stock shortage, stock damages, theft, and wastage.
  • Monitoring shelf stocks and product displays, and the general appearance of the store.
  • Investigating market trends and offering products that would appeal to customers.
  • Addressing customers’ requests, comments, and complaints.
  • Ordering, receiving goods from suppliers based on shop requirements
  • Returning damaged or short expiry products to suppliers based on quality and shelf life
  • Motivating employees to achieve targets.
  • Training new staff members and scheduling shifts.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the group’s policies and applicable laws. These include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Driving sales, standards and growth within allocated shop and store
  • Building a strong rapport with customers, management and staff
  • Achieving all KPI’s and targets as directed by head office
  • Leading, developing and motivating a large team of colleagues
  • Ensuring that all health and safety and standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Maintaining statistical and financial records
  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints
  • Overseeing pricing and stock control
  • Maximising profitability and meeting sales targets, including motivating staff to do so
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Create “seamless customer service” by making every effort to find merchandise for customers if an item is not in stock
  • Establish good rapport with existing and potential suppliers
  • Collaborate with other members of staff that have good understanding about service requirements
  • Maintain inventories and approve contracts to ensure consistent availability of the required services and merchandise
  • Study display plans, sale promotion, and advertising towards marketing merchandise in a profitable manner.

Basic Qualification

 

  • High School Diploma
  • 2+ Years demonstrable experience in a supervisory capacity at a retail store, supermarket or convenience store
  • In-depth knowledge of product and consumer trends, and marketing strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with employees and customers.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Familiarity with applicable labor laws, and retail health and safety standards.
