· To be able to diagnose the fleet condition and assess the maintenance requirement for the fleet.
· Plan and suggest adequate spare parts inventory.
· Implement FMS (Fleet Management System)
· Capture & share workshop KPI/Measures – Workshop space utilisation, staff utilization, fleet uptime, workshop turn around time, R&M cost per truck & KM
· Identify and onboard potential service providers for Machine shop & spare parts.
· Driver cost saving & resource optimisation initiatives
· To control and allocate the flow of work through the workshop to make the best use of staff, equipment and other resources
· To ensure that vehicles are serviced in accordance with departmental service standards
· To ensure that each vehicle has a full documented history of work carried out
· To act as a technical expert in the Workshop, advising staff on tasks and sharing knowledge regularly
· To implement management decisions
· To carry out any staff appraisals allocated by the Service Manager
· To maintain a high performing team and in particular take responsibility for supporting and advising technicians and coaching & mentoring of apprentices
· To assist the Service Manager with the recruitment of staff, when required
· To instill and maintain a strong health and safety culture amongst the team
· Freedom to act in day to day management of the Workshop, within the guidelines set and agreed by Company Management and Company Policy
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in fleet maintenance, with some senior level exposure
