Nature of Position:
Current Situation
The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector. UNHCR has developed a Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025 which has the ambition of growing PSP into a service capable of generating $1 Billion annually.
As part of this strategy, PSP MENA is looking to hire an IG officer to oversee all existing individual donors’ activities, and act as a liaison between the Individual Giving (IG) and Private Partnerships (PPH) teams in the MENA region. With existing donors providing a growing proportion of the total IG income, the creation of such capacity is crucial to expand the income growth and focus on increasing the level of giving for targeted donors. Also considering that a significant percentage of income in MENA comes from Middle Donors, this role will ensure an ongoing focus on upgrading donors form Standard to Middle to Major, and thereby growing IG operations in the region.

Based in Dubai, the ideal candidate must have a solid experience in the different fundraising techniques and programs, with expert knowledge of donor acquisition and retention methodologies that need to be employed to achieve the income and donor targets in a sustainable manner. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is target driven and ambitious with a track record in running donor retention and cultivation programs with an ever-growing yearly target.
He/She must be comfortable with managing a significant annual budget (Planning, Investment funds, ROIs and LTVS, expense tracking, income recording and reporting). He/She must be also comfortable with CRMS/Payment gateways and other technical infrastructure necessary to support mass scale donor retention and cultivation.
He/She is expected to be knowledgeable about private sector fundraising in the MENA region and its giving culture, laws and regulations besides an understanding of UN agencies.
The incumbent will also manage a team of senior staff members across the region and will report to the Senior IG PSP Officer in MENA and is required to work with a diverse portfolio of internal stakeholders.
Fluency in Arabic language, written and verbal is essential and mandatory for this role.
