The Health, Safety and Environment Officer is responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at emirates park zoo and resort. The incumbent contributes to the review and development of health and safety guidelines. The Officer plays a role in monitoring the company infrastructure and capital assets and also ensures the safety of visitors and staff.
Responsibilities
- Development of internal health and safety policies, procedures, and working practices.
- Conducts risk assessments and develops strategies for facilitating employee/visitor’s health and safety risks
- Outlines safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
- Conducts regular site inspections to ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Prepares and maintains inspection records and produces reports that suggest improvements
- Maintains incident records and produces statistics for management as required
- Investigates and reports on all personal injury accidents and damage to property occurring on company and documents in an incident report
- Provides safety orientations and oversees the performance of all contractors to ensure safe work practices are followed
- Initiates and organizes safety awareness campaigns, including occupational safety workshops and training sessions, to ensure that students and staff observe established safety guidelines and procedures
- Initiates and conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Advises on health and safety aspects in the planning and execution of events
- Provides immediate support and assistance in the event of an emergency
- To act as liaison with all related governmental bodies
Qualifications
- A minimum 4 years of experience in a role related to health and safety & preferably in an Entertainment/ Hospitality/ F&B environment
- Has a qualification that is at least equivalent to Level 2 Health & Safety.
- Has a qualification of Abu Dhabi Occupational Health & Safety Practitioners
- Knowledge of Fire and Safety systems and equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
- Well-developed organizational skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure positively while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
- Able to work irregular hours and on weekends
